SAT Reasoning Test
Sections:
- Writing [60 minutes]: student-written essay (25 min.) and multiple choice questions (35 min.)
- Critical Reading [70 minutes]
- Mathematics [70 minutes]
Each section of the SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800, with two writing subscores for multiple-choice questions and the essay. Bring two No. 2 pencils, a sharpener, a good eraser and a calculator with fresh batteries – a pencil is required for the multiple-choice questions and the essay.

All Subject Tests are one-hour, multiple-choice tests.

Standby Testing
If you miss the registration deadline, there’s still a chance you can take the SAT or Subject Tests as a standby. Standbys are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis only if there is enough space, testing materials, and staff.
